Forever Grateful

Dear Addie,

Thanksgiving. A day of reflection on all we are thankful for. While this autism journey isn’t what I would call anything close to easy, there’s always much to be thankful for and we always keep that close to our hearts.

As I think back on our journey, and its ups & downs, I find myself feeling exceptionally grateful for not only our tribe of support from friends & family but also the beautiful and dedicated advocates that work tirelessly along the way to help our community in so many ways.

You see Addie, advocacy isn’t something you just wake up one morning and do, most advocates saw a need on a personal level and created it. From day camps with big visions (3 Bluebirds Farm) to opening more inclusive schools for those that were seen as "too challenging" (Dynamic Opportunities), to raising funds to help others secure things they may need for a more fulfilling life (Dylan's Super Friends), to even creating a Sesame Street character that represents our community in a more public way – have you met Julia? They all saw a need and worked hard to make it come to fruition. They worked hard to be the voice of a community that is so often not heard, they worked hard and didn’t stop.

This Thanksgiving I’m especially grateful to all those that saw the need and made it happen. You are a light to so many finding their way.

Love,

Mom
