It's Okay

Dear Addie,

This week, we found ourselves trying to super-sleuth a song. It's a common occurrence around here where you sing one line in an obscure song repeatedly, and we sit feverishly trying to figure out what song it is. Remember, "Who let the dogs out?" Yes, it's a very similar situation, yet easier to identify, but I digress.

In your room, sitting on the couch, in the car, it was all the same: "It's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's alright" repeatedly. Every time you said it, I knew I had heard it somewhere, and then it hit me! AGT! That's right, Ad, America's Got Talent - um, two years ago! I don't know how I remembered this, or even where you heard it, I don't know, but here we are.

A young lady named Jane Marczewski, or "Nightbirde," battling cancer, sang this original song and was given the golden buzzer. While she had to drop out due to health complications and eventually passed away, her message lived on and was actually something I needed reminding of.

"You can't wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy." - Nightbirde

This journey can feel complicated at every turn, and then add what would seem like the regular stresses of life, and it can all feel like you're drowning. Questioning every move, relationship, or decision, we often forget to give ourselves the grace not to have it all together, which is just as important as breathing.

So this week, our super-sleuthing led us to a message I actually needed reminding of, so thank you, baby girl, and you are right; it's okay.

Love you.

Mom

(it's worth watching if you haven't seen it)
