Dear Addie,
And just like that, a new chapter begins – seventh grade.
Addie, I am not going to lie; these middle school years were never on my mind until they were here. When we received your official autism diagnosis, I could not help but think, present-day - you were three years old, mind you, what do we need to do right now to help you for the future, quite literally adulthood? These in-between years just seemed like a blur in my vision, and I am not sure why that even was, but here we are in the middle of the blur.
So far, this moment feels like we are stuck in some Goldilocks story, trying all the porridge to find the right one. Minus the breaking & entering of bear dens, bears in general, and I’m referring to school, not actual porridge. While we met some great people last year, that program was too big for what you needed, so now we are on to the next bowl of porridge with a smaller, more intimate setting, keeping fingers crossed that this one is the perfect temperature.
Addie, this week, you started a new chapter of what was just a blur to me in this journey.
Welcome to seventh grade, baby girl! You got this!
Love,
Mom
