Dear Addie,
We were coming off of a fun, slightly chaotic, sensory overload kind of week and if I’m being honest, we all could’ve used an extra minute (or hour for that matter) of sleep, but we got up, got ready, and walked.
We walk because it helps families learn new strategies to help ease some of the day-to-day challenges.
We walk for the education of learning adaptive living skills to lead a happy, healthy, successful life.
We walk because we know how helpless this all can feel at times.
We walk as a reminder that we are not alone and are part of a supportive, loving community.
We walk for the hope of what’s to come.
We walk because we love hard and are in this together, one team, one dream.
Addie, no one wakes up one day and hopes that there will be a walk fundraising for them in some way, but here we are walking with the Autism Society of NC for the future of so many.
We walked and we’ll keep walking not only for Autism but for others because we know all too well what it feels like to need support and hope in our lives.
We walked.
I love you.
Mom
