Dear Addie,
This week is one of my favorites of the year - Thanksgiving week!
Even though we count our blessings everyday, on Thanksgiving we get a break from our busy schedule and reflect on all the wonderful things we are thankful for.
The best part is that we get to do this while consuming an amazing meal (my personal fav meal of the year - your daddy makes an amazing turkey!), and watching the Detroit Lions capture a victorious win! Happy times for the Menzo's!
So, my dear - what are you thankful for? I am thankful for the many blessings this life continues to provide to our family. We have much to be grateful for; especially our three amazing children, Clara, Gabe, and YOU!
We are thankful for our family, and friends that have become like family. We are thankful for the country we live in, and the people who defend it to protect our freedoms. We are thankful for the roof over our heads, the town we live in, our neighborhood and neighbors, and all the beauty that surrounds us. We are even thankful for Ruby & Anabelle (our crazy coonhound & shy, white cat...)!
We are thankful for our teachers that dedicate their lives to educating you and shaping your future, and the schools where they work. We are thankful for the amazing people who work with daddy and have joined our OTOD to build their special company.
We even give thanks to the sister company of Mars Candy called Opal Fruits - who created your beloved "pink squares" (starbursts)! Yes even them.
We are very thankful for the perfect imperfection of our daily lives. For this and so much more, we are eternally thankful.
You know I love a good quote and this one is perfect for a day like today...
"Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns; I am thankful that thorns have roses.” ~ Alphonse Karr
I'm going to let you in on a little secret: it's really easy to feel like life is unfair - especially when challenges are stacked against up against you.
How you face, and accept these challenges define the kind of person you are my love. Mommy and daddy will always encourage you (and also Clara and Gabe) to find the positive in any and every challenge put in front of you! Be thankful for every person you meet and leave them feeling the same about you!
My sweet girl, I want you to know that I am so very thankful for you, Clara, Gabe and daddy...you're all continuing to show me a deeper appreciation for the smallest things in life. You each bring a uniqueness and your own special joy to this family, and it's simply amazing. Thank you.
So may we all gather this holiday season and remember to give thanks, not just on Thanksgiving but everyday...Because a thankful heart is a happy heart.
I love you.
Love,
Mom
